Thoughts on the attached? I had to create the letters by hand in photoshop since I don't know the original font that was used (and you'll see I'm no photoshop expert).
Looks pretty nice. Do we need 'hadoop' some where in the logo?
This logo will always (I believe) appear on our web pages with the existing hadoop logo. Take a look at Could we use png or gif for the logo instead of jpg? They are better than jpg for small graphics with <=256 colors since they use lossless compression.
Re PNG: I seem to recall that only GIF files get properly included in forrest-generated PDFs, but that should be verified. But this probably doesn't matter for the logo...
I think it should be a purple elephant skeleton. smile
When generating the site, it looks much better w/ this logo since the yellow elephant is already in the hadoop logo.
Ok, scap my last comment. I think this might work best along side the existing hadoop logo.
I just committed smallCore+elephant_cmyk.gif as the Hadoop Core logo.
Integrated in Hadoop-trunk #422 (See http://hudson.zones.apache.org/hudson/job/Hadoop-trunk/422/
