Description

Resolve minor pylint and PEP8 issues:

• Lines too long
• Unused args in functions
• Exceptions defined too broadly
• Redundant parenthesis
• Unnecessary escapes in regex
• Update select.error merged into OSError (python 3.3+, PEP 3151)
• Variable names reused in inner scope
• Obsolete EINTR handling (python 3.5+, PEP 475)
