Description gigahz 2009-02-25 02:12:37 UTC
We have a working, basic spell checker for Shukllachiska Kichwa, written in
Ecuador. We want the language code to be qu_EC.

After talking to SIL about what would be the correct code, we ended on qu_EC
since no new language codes will be assigned for reasons of new dialects,
orthograpies or similar less important changes.

An initial hunspell dictionary v.0.1 is available on
http://arno.homelinux.org/files/kichwa/qu_EC-0.1.tgz and if I find out how to
attach files I will attach them here, too :)

I now created a dictionary extension for this spellchecker.

The summary should really be: 'Please add "Kichwa (Ecuador)" to language list
box.'. Now, I don't find out how to change it myself, so I add this comment.

The real problem here is not the spellchecker, but the fact that there is no
list box entry to select the spellchecker.

Until the list box entry is added, we have to use "Norwegian (Bokmål)" to
activate the spellchecker. An ugly hijacking-trick.
A similar issue, but for another language, is

For the dictionary extension this issue is moot.
For the language list box it is a duplicate.
