Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 98803
Chart - type: lines - presets for line width
Last modified: 2013-09-25 20:41:44 UTC
If I insert a chart (chart type: lines) the lines are ugly thick. In OOo 2.4 the line-width was always thinner. Now I have to choose every line and change its width. Please insert in tools/options/charts an option to preset the line-width for inserted charts. I hope it´s possible in very near future. Til then it will be very helpful to know, if there is a chance to change the default options in any config-file? It also would be very comfortable, if users could define own templates for chart-types, in which line-, font-styles etc. are saved. With kind regards, jmpoo
I confirm the problem...

This (old) issue: http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=36672 seems to be similar. ;-)
As a workaround you can do the following: Create a chart how you like it - e.g. a scatter chart with five series, all thin lines and special symbols and colors. The spreadsheet data is not important as it will be exchanged. Now save this default chart in a separate spreadsheet. You can call it MyDefaultCharts.ods for example. If you now want to create a new chart in a different spreadsheet, copy your default chart from file MyDefaultCharts.ods to the new spreadsheet. Now you basically only need to exchange the data. Select the cell range with the new data and then drag it onto the chart. In the upcoming dialog select whether you want to have the first row and/or column as label. You are done!
Any hope to get this useful feature in AOO? The workaround is useful in some cases but it is not really user-friendly if you have to create different charts
