Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 93608
DOCX: Writer fails to open document containing OMML-formulas
Last modified: 2017-05-20 10:45:07 UTC
I have been testing import of OOXML-files in OOO 3.0 Beta (BEB300m3 (Build:9328) and specifically import of OOXML-documents containing Math zones (Office Math ML). What I did was this: 1. I used the attached file (math minimal.docx) and used the "File/Open" dialog. 2. I selected "Microsoft Word 2007 XML (*.docx;*.dotx) and selected the file 3. OOO3 now prompts me to select a "filter" 4. I choose (again) "Microsoft Word 2007 XML" After this Writer crashes.

MRU->HBRINKM: the attached document cannot be opened by OO Writer. When I save a new instance of the document with Word 2007, it can be opened. jlundstocholm, maybe you can give hbrinkm some hint about how you created the document. The format seems to differ a bit from Word's standard output.
The file was creates by me by hand, but it conforms perfectly to the specification of both WordProcessingML as well as the Open Packaging Specification. (at least according to the tests I have done on the file) I just ran the test you did (open in Microsoft Office 2007 and save it again) and the file is now being opened. But the formula is still messed up and converted to the markup <text:p text:style-name="P1"> <text:span text:style-name="T1">cosπ4=22</text:span> </text:p> So the bug might be two-fold: 1) Maybe OOO3 has the path /Word/ hardcoded for DOCX-files (which would be a mistake) 2) The OMML-to-MathML conversion is buggy.
