Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 89575
AutoSpellCheck increases space requirement for misspelled text
Last modified: 2013-12-09 10:30:28 UTC
This issue is a spin off from Issue 89555. I still can't reproduce the problem in Issue 89555, but I found something that might be related. In my testkit.zip you will find "try3.ods", that showed the following strange effect: The 3 words "abc" will be in one row as long as AutoSpellCheck is disabled, but as soon as AutoSpellCheck will be enabled, text becomes too long for the cell, as you see in included "demo.swf". That effect is independent from setting 'Tools -> Options -> OOo-Calc -> General -> Use Printer Metrics'. May be you will have to adjust row width to reproduce the Problem. Reproducible for me with "2.4.0 Multilingual version German UI WIN XP: [680m12(Build9286)]" and also with "3.0.0 Beta Multilingual version English UI WIN XP: [300m2 (Build9301)]".

I'm sure you're right that this is related to 89555. When I looked at your demo.swf I could see the spell check lines for the first two words at the top of the cell. The cell height should have been changed to accommodate the wrapped text but it remained only single height. Of course the size of the text shouldn't depend on spelling check status but that's another issue! Peter
Hi rainerbielefeld, I can't reproduce it on Dev_DEV300_m21_winXP Chinese.
I checked with "Ooo-dev 3.0.0 Beta Multilingual version English UI WIN XP: [300m21 (Build9319)]" and can no longer reproduce the problem, this result differs from a test with 2.4.1, where the problem still exists. But the characters still "dance" when I switch on/off auto spell check, so I can not decide whether the problem is fixed or whether that is only 2lucki chance" for this version.
Still Reproducible with server installation of "AOO 4.1.0-Dev – English UI / English locale - [AOO410m1(Build:9750) - Rev. 1546757 - 2013-12-02]" on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)", own separate user profile. Latest confirmation for AOO 4.1.0-dev, but because of incomplete LCo selector (Bug 123063) no correct information can be contributed.
