Description clippka 2008-01-18 10:13:52 UTC
This is a first shoot at implementing suggested enhancement in issue 63977.

It focuses on the feature to have a handout that also adds lines so the audience
can add their own notes. The enhancement to also add a handout that have the
notes text next to the slide thumbnails is *not* implemented with this issue.
Please see URL of this issue for the specification.

In short this issue adds the following:

- Move the selection of what to print ("Slides","Handout","Notes","Outline")
from the print options dialog (where it often was not found previously by users)
to the print dialog
- Allow the selection of how many slides per handout are printed to be made in
the print dialog
- Choosing three slides per handout now adds lines for the audience to write
notes on
- I also added the option to select 9 slides per handout, this was also often
requested (previous maximum was 6 slides per handout)
- Handouts with 4 or more slides can now also be configured that the slides are
ordered horizontal (old behaviour) or vertical.

Why not also implement handout+notes? In contrast to just adding lines it is a
lot more work to implement this feature. I might add this enhancement later, but
currently I have not enough time to implement both.

PPT-Export doesn't work.
- start an impress
- choose one handout (e.g. one Slide)
- save the document as ppt and make a reload or load it with PPT
- you get the 6 slides handout.

back to you.
Comment 5 clippka 2008-01-21 13:14:37 UTC
import and export of handouts never worked as it is not implemented. This issue
is about printing handouts and not about import&export

Does this implementation automatically resize slides to fill efficiently the page?

Otherwise dear old bug #5261 is NOT a duplicate.

Hi,
using version 3.0.0.beta
if you try to layout the handouts, using the layouts proposed in the tasks windows.
if you manipulate the layout (changing position and size of slides in the layout).

This as no effect what so ever on the printed version of the handout of the
presentation.

Is this a feature ?

The layout with lines to take notes about the slide as no effect that so ever on
the printed version, the orientation of the handouts in the printing windows
doesn't change any thing in the result.

editing and using the layouts for printing woulds solve all problems.
(but you will have to save them ....)
