Description dgalecki 2007-05-25 04:48:51 UTC
While I'm editing text documents (both *.doc and *.odt) with "track changes"
function (I suppose that's the name in English, I use Polish version of OO:
"Edycja --> Zmiany --> Rejestruj"), the Writer ALWAYS crashes after just a
moment after opening a document. Exactly speaking, it freezes and soffice.bin is
consuming 100% CPU. Several times I waited for quite a few minutes, but OO is
not responding any more whatever, the only solution is to kill it with
taskmgr.exe. What particular action is the exact cause of the freezing, I'm not
sure: that happened when I was adding/deleting something to/from the text or
copy-pasting, usually while the changes were being recorded but not visible --
but also when I was switching to "show changes" or to "do not show changes" view.

That happened really every time (at least 20 or 30 times). The problem was so
severe that I had to uninstall OO 2.2 and install 2.1 that I used previously
(works fine!).

Ps I can e-mail a document I was editing if that can help in establishing the
cause of the problem.

Yes, please e-mail the document to mru@openoffice.org. We -here at SUN- will
handle this confidentially of course.

MRU->SBA: pls have a look, this may be a problem resulting from the changes done
in CWS "automaticstyles". Referring to dgalecki this worked fine in OO 2.1.

This issue is very familiar to me running under xubuntu. I administer ~ 20
desktops using various cpu and memory configurations. It appears to be OOo 2.2
specific. It mostly occurs with large files with a lot of tracked changes, but
also occurs with smaller files sometimes.

I have found no workable solution. I have recently set a pc up using 2.4 and
could work with a file that was impossible under 2.2.

This issue is more then one Year as unconfirmed and has since one year the
keyword needmoreinfo. No one added more info. So I will set the issue as
Worksforme. If you realy have the same problem on OOo Version 2.4.1 or heigher
please reopen it, AND attache a exempel document to reproduce. Tanks

Change Status: WORKSFORME
Set myself to CC
