Description Unknown 2002-06-20 15:03:22 UTC
When opening a document composed with Microsoft Word 97 that contains many frames,
part of the document does not appears in the word processor, and instead,
the cursor is allowed to go beyond the end the page, at a place where the missing text is.

The format of the document is also not preserved as in the original Microsoft
Word document.

This happens with the dcument encoded as .rtf by Word97 or as in .doc native format.

I have no place to put the document online but I would with pleasure provide the
example files that are needed to analyze this bug, very annoying when exchanging
files with Microsoft Word users.

I see it, there is something not quite right about this document in
word itself,

What we have here is two tables, the first table works fine, the
second table has two problems.

a) it has three rows as headline repeat, we can only have one row as a
repeating headline (as far as I know). That is a feature request as
issue 6473

b) the second and most serious problem is that the second table
consists of only one cell, and word can break a single row over
multiple pages if it overflows out of the row, but writer cannot. The
rest of your text is all there but invisible. You can cut and paste
text out of the table and the missing text will appear as you remove
text to let the rest fit in the table.

The import filter can't do anything there :-(, we need to support
splitting rows over multiple pages in layout.

cmc->ama: I'll pass this on as an extreme example of splitting a row
over multiple pages. Perhaps there are plans afoot to handle this.
