Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 49467
function datedif() is missing
Last modified: 2024-02-06 13:33:43 UTC
The function datedif() is missing. This function has been used in Excel since version 5 and is extremely useful. I use Excel spreadsheets that are protected that use datedif() so I need this function to work as is in order to switch over to using OpenOffice. This link http://www.cpearson.com/excel/datedif.htm documents this function as found in Excel. I realize that this complaint was raised over 2 years ago but since it is in common use with Excel OpenOffice should support it because many times there is no way to change the existing spreadsheet to make a work around (this is my situation). Also, if it is so "simple to implement" then just add the needed code to properly implement datedif() in OpenOffice. Otherwise this will be just another reason for people to NOT migrate to OpenOffice.
one for the requirements team
As Dennis Hamilton noted on ooo-users http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/incubator-ooo-users/201210.mbox/browser , DATEDIF() is part of OpenFormula (part 2 of the ODF 1.2 Specification). So it's already formally specified and standardized. This is an important prerequisite to check before starting the implementation.
