Formulas exported to microsoft xls not recognized by microsoft excel
Last modified: 2005-01-19 14:50:49 UTC
When exporting a spreadsheet to Microsoft Excel 97/2000/XP (xls) some formulas are not recognized as formulas by Microsoft Excel. A spreadsheet made with OO 1.1.4 (and 1.1.3) which works correctly and is exported to xls format will not work with Microsoft Excel but DOES WORK when the xls file is opened in OO 1.1.4 Simple formulas such as COS(B59) work but anything more complex such as COS(B59)*(D52) fails. What's more, careful examination of the cell contents using the Microsoft product shows correct cell contents on the "equals line" above but the results show #VALUE! in the cell. Only if the cell contents is manually entered to exactly the same thing will the cell calculate the correct value. Manually, means the hard way, by using the keyboard to copy text. I have a 14 KB xls formatted xls file which clearly indicates the problem but I don't know how to attach it to this report. Specifically, using Excel from Office 97 SR2 results in nonsense,
