Description ohallot 2004-11-04 10:49:35 UTC
Hi,

I have a master document with several chapters as linked documents.

Chapters have figures and references to figures. This works OK when chapter is
edited or printed. See attachemnt 1 where the text references the figure
correctly (Figura 1).

When updating the master document that contains the chapter, the figures
references get lost. See attachment 2 [details], where now the image is figure 9 (which is
correct) and the reference is Figure 23 (which is incorrect).

Master document has all links updated upon opening the file. Misbehaviour
observed in Windows and Linux.

I suspect this bug is related to the act of inserting and deleting several
images in the chapter.

It appears that the references to missing figures are left as garbadge in the
chapter file. The chapter does not mishandle the missing figures, but the master
document still picks them.

I'm going to stick my neck out and confirm this issue. Though test documents
would be nice.

If so then are you sure that this is priority 2 as:

This priority describes major bugs.

Examples:
- Crashes in basic functionality
- Freezes in basic functionality
- Data loss
- Functional area gets lost (i.e. printing)
- Basic functionality is not working correctly

Thanks.

Hi

Thanks for handling that.

The link below has the bug situation.

http://www.scinergy.com.br/upload/arquivos/sample.tar.gz

This file has another bug inside (please feel free to split into another IZ)

Since it is a set of files for a master document, I have removed some chapters
(deleted links from the navigator). However the images of the removed file are
still in the master document, just before the alphabetical index, overlapping
one to another. Seems that OO master documents kept the images but lose their
place (check the uncommon size of the master document. It should be less than
100K but has more than 800K)

Some things I did:
- Saved the master document
- closed OO
- launched OO
- opened master document
- updated all (tools-update-all)
The results have not changed, master document unusually large.

Regards,
Olivier

PS. The critical situation I raised is due to 1) my poor knowledge on how bugs
are ranked, and 2) with such kind of bug, the master document part is just unusable:
-Functional area gets lost (master documents)
-Basic functionality is not working correctly

I had to re-assemble the whole file into a sxw document. In that case, everythig
is OK.
