It would be nice to be able to find&replace page-breaks in Write documents.

you can search for break with page style, does this match your need?
Writer->Menubar->Edit->Find&Replace...->More Options->Attributes...->Options-
>Page Style

This problem affects me too, and it is a *serious* problem. I need to be able to
find and replace (replace being the important point) page breaks with other text
(eg to remove them and replace with some whitespace).

Many word processors have permitted this for years (I thought open office did)
now it doesn't. Why not? Page breaks are treated anomolously by open office (eg
cut/paste does not work) why? They should be treated just like any hidden
formatting character (like a paragraph mark).

Anyway, replacing on formatting / page style is no use to me as often it is
someone else's document who has not thoughtfully used any style change to
indicate what they are doing.

I have been using OO for ages and recommending it. But this is such a serious
problem that I am having to consider buying word so I can do it. Arggggghhhhh!

another RegEx for you, ama

Not really a RegEx because page-break is not a character, it's a property of the
paragraph and cannot easily replaced by "some whitespace".
