Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 18401
FullPage View is different from normal edit view
Last modified: 2003-09-08 16:55:29 UTC
a) Merge two or more cells to one b) Fill the cell with two words (START END) using Arial/10pt c) Fill the space between these two word with spaces so that END stands at the right side of the cell and START at the left. d) View your page in "FullPage" view and you will see that END doesn't stand at the right side of the cell. There is a gap of at least 5mm between the word and the cell border. You can see it's the same when you print the page. e) Export the file to MS Excel format and open it with Excel. You will see that the "FullPage" view tells the truth. There seems to be a bug in the edit view. f) Add some spaces (>=10 with Arial 10pt) between the two word so that there is a linebreak and END appears beneath START at the left cell border. g) Open "Fullpage" view again and you will see that the layout is what it should be.

Confirmed - However the spacing needed on 1.1RC3/Linux (RH9) is different! (The END on the second row goes past the cell border).
First of all, the priority is much to high. I've corrected this. This is not a bug, but a changed default setting under Tools - Options - Spreadsheet - General. The checkbox 'Use printer metrics' has cahnged it's default setting to off. This was done as a big amount of users requested it. These users are often changing printers with one document and prefer to design the document for Monitor resolutions. Just changing the checkbox to tagged will solve your problem. So I close this one as invalid. Frank
