Description mwidrick 2003-08-04 20:33:28 UTC
When wanting to copy a column exactly (from one column to the next, to print 3
identical 'cards' on one sheet of paper), I wasn't able to shift select
multiple images (drawing objects and jpeg images). WinWord allows this
behavior, which makes it easier to precisely copy one column's layout to
another. Also, it would be nice to shift select text and objects, but since
WinWord doesn't allow this, I don't really expect it. This task is easy in a
presentation document (where even text exists as objects), but then I don't
have access to other layout choices like columns.

Perhaps in the future, a way to use print preview to treat objects in the
manner of the presentation programs could be found.

Reasigned to BH

Please clarify: Are you talking about table columns or page columns like in >
Format > Columns ?
Comment 3 mwidrick 2004-02-19 20:19:20 UTC
The problem is in the page columns layout. It exists generally in the word
processor component, you can't select multiple objects. I haven't downloaded
new revisions since August, so I'm sorry if this was subsequantly resolved.

Selecting multiple external objects isn't possible yet. Will confirm as enhancement.

Dear developers,
any progress with this issue?

Thanks a lot for your attention.
Comment 9 malamut 2007-04-21 10:02:36 UTC
I believe that whenever a user first encounters this issue, he will perceive it
as a bug, since from the user's point of view there is no obvious difference
between external and internal objects. Also, no such difference seems to be
documented, and even if it were, nobody would expect an embedded image to be an
external object. Also, competitors today do not have such problems anymore.

Hence, I suggest that this issue be assigned a higher priority and a target
milestone. And and believe that it would even make sense to rate it a defect
instead of an enhancement.
