Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 15186
import dia files
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:40:50 UTC
I'd like to see OpenOffice.org import dia files, also compressed ones, so as to easily include them in any documentation. dia: http://www.lysator.liu.se/~alla/dia/ Thank you!
Reassigned to Betina.
As ooo doesn't have support for dia's shapes, it should embed the .dia document and edit it with dia when double-clicking on it? For a general approach, consider gimp .xcf files too.

Working on this as an extension
The diafilter is now available as http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/en/project/diafilter for Linux x86 and Linux x86_64. There are some limits due to the blocker bugs of this issue which if/when fixed would allow better import quality. Seeing as a dia filter doesn't make sense without the ability to use the dia "shape" files to display the format and those are bundled inside dia which is under the GPL, the filter corresponding needs to be under the GPL as well and so can't be directly part of OpenOffice.org which is under the LGPL File additional bug-reports about the filter at https://fedorahosted.org/openoffice.org-diafilter
closed, implemented.
