I saw this in Issue 124838 - Vertically merged cells become splitted after copy paste to Calc.
I did not test whether problem appears from time to time or always.
For Issue 124838 I am 100% sure that radio button was at "auto-detect"

With Seamonkey 2.26 in "Issue 124838 - Vertically merged cells become splitted after copy paste to Calc":
Calc Document wrongly recognized as application/vnd.sun.xml.calc instead of application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.spreadsheet

May be a root or at least an other aspect of the problem is that the ODF types are missing in "selection from list"?
