Sample Document

Steps how to reproduce Reproducible with "AOO 4.0.1 – German UI / German locale [Rev. 1524958 2013-09-20 11:40:29]" on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)", “historic” 4.0 User Profile used for all predecessor versions:

0. Open attached sample document
1. Click airplane
2. <shift+click> Bicycle
Expected: All parts of text row from airplane to bicycle (including characters
             between pictures) selected
   Actual: motorbike selected

Additional info:
----------------
(a) I am not 100% sure concerning my expectation
(b) Still Reproducible with server installation of "AOO 4.1.0-Dev – English UI
    / German locale - [AOO410m1(Build:9750) - Rev. 1565724 - 2014-02-09]"
on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)", own separate user profile.
(c) Already Reproducible sever installation of "OOo 3.3.0 English UI
   / German locale [OOO330m20 (Build 9567)]" on WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) DE
(d) Still worked fine with with
  * sever installation of "OOo 3.2.1 English UI / German locale
    [OOO320m18 (Build 9502)]" on WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) DE
  * server installation of "Ooo 3.1.1 German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) DE
    [OOO310m19 (Build 9420)]"
  * server installation of "OOo 2.0.2
    [680m5 (Build 9011)]" German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)
(e) We have some reports for similar problems, but there not explicitly for
    graphics anchored as Characters:
"Bug 122496 - Impossible to select more than one graphic (anchored to
     paragraph) with SHIFT+mouse click"
"Bug 118137 - Multiple selection of Draw shapes impossible if raster
graphic, formula or particular OLE objects in document"
"Shift+Click selects not the picture which was clicked"

Selection after initial Shift+Click on images

I have successfully replicated this bug using the following:

OpenOffice 3.3.0 - OOO330m20 (Build:9567) on Windows 7 Enterprise, Version 6.1 (Build 7601: Service Pack 1).

OpenOffice 4.0.1 – AOO401m5 (Build:9714) on Windows 7 Home Premium, Version 6.1 (Build 7601: Service Pack 1).

The results I received were initially different than what is described in the original bug report from Rainer Bielefeld. My test results for both machines above were as follows:

0. Open the attached sample document
1. Click the Airplane image
2. <shift+click> Bicycle

Expected: All parts of text row from airplane to bicycle (including characters between pictures) selected
Actual: Frame object at the bottom of the document is selected (See Screenshot1).

I was able to replicate the bug as originally described only after deleting the anchored objects at the bottom of the page (the objects labeled “Frame”, “a+b=c”, and “Spreadsheet”).

Other Findings:

a) Issue 120121 indicates there are multiple bug reports dating back to 2003 for this issue.

b) Issue 120121 indicates the object or picture selected when performing a Shift+Click can vary.
