Description Rainer Bielefeld 2013-12-23 05:52:48 UTC
I see in "server installation of "AOO 4.1.0-Dev – German UI / German locale - [AOO410m1(Build:9750) - Rev. 1537508 - 2013-11-02]" on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)", own separate user profile." In 'Help -> Contents -> Text Documents -> General Information -> Command and Menu Reference -> Menus -> File -> Recent Documents' I read:
"Lists the most recently opened files. To open a file in the list, click its name.
The file is opened by the OpenOffice module that saved it."
That's not true, a File name appears in the Recent document list when it becomes closed with the name the document has had when it becomes closed.

Example:
1. Open existing "Test0.odt"
2. Save without any edits as "Test1.odt"
3. Check menu 'File -> Recent documents': neither "Test0.odt" nor "Test1.odt"
4. Menu 'Filc -> Close'
5. Check menu 'File -> Recent documents': "Test1.odt" at the top of the list

Suggestion:
"Lists the most recently closed files. To open a file in the list, click its name.
The file is opened by the OpenOffice module that saved it."

Additional info:
(a) Already reproducible with Pre-3.4.0 (OOo 1.1.5), but because of crippled
Version selector (Bug 123063) no useful info can be contributed
(b) also see "Bug 90228 - file not 'recent' if saved under new name"
Comment 2 Edwin Sharp 2013-12-23 20:39:05 UTC
Description is correct but Help information is also correct.
The expected behavior is that Recent Documents will display opened files (even read-only) and not saved files. This is the behavior in every program I know.
