Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 123856
Tilde (~) in [Sidebar]: Styles and formatting
Last modified: 2018-12-01 14:13:06 UTC
Created attachment 82102 [details] underscore i menu, and unwanted tilde in title It occurs in Polish version but I think this is a more general problem. There are four panels and each of them has a tilde in it's name (title). Problem is that in one of them tilde is not the first character and in effect it is visible when the panel is displayed in the sidebar. Note that underscore under the letter is display correctly in a menu of the sidebar (See attached screen shot). Tilde is just not removed from title when displayed in the sidebar. I'm guessing that someone assumed that tilde would always be the first character, but this is a false assumption.
I found some other similar Bug 122637, Bug 122770 and the fixed "Bug 122639 - [sidebar] Access key wrongly written in 'P~osition und Größe" This one might have similar roots? @eccenux: Please contribute information concerning your OS with version, localization, language.

This is on Windows 7 SP1 (pl), but I doubt that it's OS or even language specific.
Reproducible with server installation of "AOO 4.1.0-Beta – Polish UI / German locale - [AOO410m14(Build:9760) - Rev. 1573601 2014-03-03 17:47:48]" on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)", own separate user profile: 1. From AOO Start Center open new Calc Document 2. In Sidebar click 'Styles & Formatting' icon bug: Heading contains Tilde Not a big problem, but ugly visible
This is a bug in the translation. The original strings, defined in officecfg/registry/data/org/openoffice/Office/UI/Sidebar.xcu, don't contain a tilde. Moreover neither decks nor panels in the sidebar have support for hotkeys. Therefore manually defined hotkey definitions are not interpreted. Can be fixed in the Pootle translation database.
All translations from pootle are now in the SVN revision 1847894 There is a dev-build under https://home.apache.org/~mechtilde/NewBuild If there are problems with the translation please open a new issue
