Description Victor Sigal 2012-10-23 06:03:56 UTC
Bug 73494 not fully fixed.
In case of 'Use OpenOffice dialog' is checked.

'File-Save As' always propose to save file in default directory, specified in "Path-My Documents".

But dialog 'File-Open' is trying to opening directory which was 'last used for save' by any other OpenOffice application.

This is inconsistent behaivoir, especially desruptive when user working with few applications at same time.

To reproduce: run Writer and Calc.

in Writer 'File-Open' - will open directory1. Close dialog.

now in Calc - 'File-Save As' - select and save file into directory2.

in Writer 'File-Open' - will open now direcory2.

During runtime directory1 changed to directory2 in Writer.

I was able to replicate this bug running Writer and Calc Build:9714 Rev. 1524958 OpenOffice 4.0.1 on Windows 8.1.

This bug could cause users to accidentally save files in locations they do not intend to as it is not intuitive that saving a file in one program will change the default location in another program. When working quickly it is easy to quickly click the save button, not realizing the default location for Writer has changed since you saved a file using Calc previously.

Using a window 7 machine and OpenOffice 4.0.1 , I was able to duplicate the issue. It would automatically go to the directory where changes (save or open) were made.

I was able to replicate this on Mac OS X 10.9 Build 13A603 using Open Office 4.0.1. The steps provided recreated the bug exactly.
