Description europ33 2012-08-11 06:34:33 UTC
Since I have been using OpenOffice.org 3.4, every time I try to open a file, either .ODT or.DOC, generated either by Word XP or by an older version of EpenOffice.org, or if I try to create a new file, OOo4.3 crashes, recovers the current work and restarts, and crashes again some seconds after.

This can be bug with the user profile: an inconsistency in the user profile configuration while updating from a previous version.
Try (re)moving the file registrymodifications.xcu in your user profile. If this does not work, try removing the whole user profile folder.

The user profile is usually in C:\Documents and Settings\<your account name>\Application Data\OpenOffice.org\3\user. It is a hidden folder. Rename
that file and restart OpenOffice, including the system tray Quickstarter.

The file registrymodifications.xcu will be then re-generated (note that this may cause some settings being lost).

If only printing crashes, this could be bug 120389 but you say it also crashes on opening documents.

would you upload your sample file?
Comment 3 Rob Weir 2013-04-03 14:29:31 UTC
No response to request for sample file. From the description this sounds like the profile issue in 3.4.1 which causes random crashes. This is fixed in 4.0.
