Description gpdas 2010-09-06 11:47:33 UTC
I opened a spreadsheet in openoffice. In Sheet1 Column1 is 'Country' and Column2
is 'Language'. Entered 6 records. Copied the same in Sheet2. Applied AutoFilter
in both the Sheets and filtered one language. When I return to previous sheet I
found the filtered data but FILTER is not visible. This also happens when I move
to original sheet. Again I have to apply the filter and remove it to show all
records.

Sheet1
______
Country	Language

USA	English
UK	English
Japan	Japanese
France	French
Brazil	Spanish
Spain	Spanish

Sheet2
_______
Country	Language

USA	English
UK	English
Japan	Japanese
France	French
Brazil	Spanish
Spain	Spanish

AutoFilter Problem in Sheet1 and Sheet2
Comment 2 Regina Henschel 2010-09-06 12:30:33 UTC
There is only one anonymous autofilter for the whole document. So if you want
several autofilters, you have to use named ones. Select the range which you want
to filter incl. column label and define a name via Data > Define Range. Select
the range via Data > Select Range and apply the autofilter. Do the same with the
data range on the other sheet.

When the anonymous autofilter is set to sheet2, it can no longer be on sheet1,
because there exists only one anonymous autofilter. Moving this anonymous
autofilter does not show the hidden rows automatically. Currently the user has
to mark the rows and apply "show" from the context menu. I think the rows should
be shown automatically, because that is the behavior, if you switch off
autofilter first and then set it new to another range.

The wish for having more than one anonymous autofilter is already tracked in 12666.
