Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 106275
Excel sheet protection not removed
Last modified: 2012-09-03 08:26:03 UTC
Open a Excel table with sheet protection save as *.ods. Whilest in OOo - Windows version a window pops up asking whether to re-enter or omit the protection of a sheet, the Linux (opensuse and go-oo) version doesn't ask but keeps the protection when saving the file.
Are you sure the behaviors are flipped (i.e. the Windows and the Linux versions)? That dialog is currently Go-OO only, so the upstream versions shouldn't launch that dialog.
>Are you sure the behaviors are flipped I meant to say "Are you sure the behaviors are *not* flipped?"
Also, the dialog will get launched *only when* the application cannot re-generate the password hash. So, when saving from xls to ods, the dialog will not get launched, the same when going from ods to ods. The way to check if this is working as designed is to open the resaved file and test if those sheet protections are still in place, with the same password. If yes, then it's working as designed.

Is there an option to block the re-generation of the password hash? Thanks for an answer !
>Is there an option to block the re-generation of the password hash? Unfortunately not currently. But, I'll treat that as a request for a future enhancement. That would also help for mass conversions.
Verified on Aoo_Trunk_20120829.1800, it is working as current design. so close it.
