Description gbpacheco 2009-07-30 17:06:23 UTC
Hi!

 I received the document attachment with a curious problem. The original user
says to me which the chart has been copied to a text document from a
spreadsheet. When I edit the OLE object in the text, the chart dissapears.

 1) open the document;
 2) double click in the chart;
 3) the chart dissapears and the chart data table is empty.

 Unfortunately, I don´t know if the document has been created in the version
3.0, 3.0.1 or 3.1. I opened the document in OpenOffice.org 3.1.

 Thanks!

The document (63864) was created in BrOffice.org/3.1$Win32
OpenOffice.org_project/310m11$Build-9399 according to meta.xml

I comfirm the chart data is empty on OOo-Dev_DEV300_m53_Win32Intel.

I can confirm that the chart vanishes after double click. But looking into the
file, there is not more data than displayed. After double click the chart does
display the data as given within the file. So the problem must have happened
during the copy operation from the spreadsheet.
Do you have access to the original spreadsheet and can you reproduce the problem?
Thanks, Ingrid.

 Hello Ingrid!

 Sorry for the long delay to answer. The user explained the case to me and I
think it's a very interesting situation. The how-to is:

   1)open a new text document (first document);

   2)create a basic text table;

   3)select the text table and go to Insert> Object > Chart. Choose a chart type
and click Finish to complete the wizard and create the chart. The chart will be
linked to table text: modifying the table data, the graph is modified;

   4)open another text document (second document);

   5)select the chart in the first document and copy/paste to the second document;

   6)save and close the second document;

   7)re-open the second document;

   8)double-click the chart to find the problem. The chart in the second
document will disappear.

  If you need any other information, please ask me.

  Thanks!
  Gustavo Pacheco.

Hi Gustavo!
Thanks for the research and the good description! Now I can reproduce the
problem from the beginning. Thanks!
Ingrid

Fixed in CWS chart45. When copying a chart with data from a writer table into
another writer document, the chart will now copy the table data and switch to an
own internal table in case no such table is contained in the target document.

@Thomas, please verify fix in CWS chart45.
