Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 100993
2 times the same linked Ole objects cause message "document in use"
Last modified: 2009-04-29 06:10:57 UTC
I checked with "Ooo 3.1.0 RC1 multilingual version English UI WIN XP: [OOO310m9 (Build 9396)]" and found out: When you open a document containing 2 or more times the same linked OLE object a message "document in use" will appear. Steps to it produced the problem: 0. unzip attached test kit 1. open "test2.odt" or "test2.ods" (containing "TheElectronicMail.odg" 2 times as linked OLE object) expected: document should open without any problem actual: Message appears, you have to decide how you want to open the second copy of "TheElectronicMail.odg". If you select "Canel" in the message box, only a place holder will be shown instead of the object. The problem does not appear for documents with only one linked OLE aobject in it (test with "test1.odt"!). No problem with "Ooo 3.0.1 (DE) Multilingual version English UI WIN XP: [OOO300m15 (Build 9379)]"
Created attachment 61494 [details] Test kit
This problem makes OOo unusable for me, I have documents with lots of OOo objects used as icon (always the same) in it, and it's a little annoying to have to press a confirmation button 100 times to allow to show the same picture 100 times in the document.
This problem is really annoying for me, normal working with 3.1 is more or less impossible, because I intensively use linked OLE objects.
MRU->MAV: you just need to insert the same document as linked OLE into a document and you will get the "File locked" error message. This will also appear for every object when opening the container document. It is a nasty regression, OOo 3.0.1 did not give this message.
The fix is ready and will be commited soon in cws mav50.
Fixed in mav50.
mav->mru: Please verify the issue. Please test the original scenario and the scenario you have mentioned together, they need different parts of the fix.
cd: Fix reviewed.
Verified fix in CWS mav50.
I checked with "Ooo 3.1.0 RC2 multilingual version German UI WIN XP: [OOO310m11 (Build 9399)]", problem is no longe visible.
