Description artur 2009-03-12 14:21:33 UTC
When editing text that is part of a numbered list, the "Bullets and Numbering"
toolbar automatically pops up (gains focus) and the text you are editing looses
focus.
This behaviour makes it mandatory to use the mouse to close that toolbar

This is most annoying and makes numbered lists practically unusable. If you are
editing text that has multiple paragraphs (some numbered, other un-numbered) it
makes the user repeatedly leave the keyboard, grab the mouse, close the dialog,
back to text, and so forth and so on.

This defect was not present in previous versions of OOo

Hi
Although the problem persists, I just found a workaround for it:

Drag the toolbar to the OOo application window, to dock it.
The text will not loose focus again, as the dialog will remain docked.

But I think it is the same root cause...

MRU->PL: could you please have a look if this is the same problem as issue
96395? Thanks!

Just so you know, I found this issue goes away if you enable desktop effects.
(Jaunty, 9.04). Hope that helps.

This doesn't happen in KDE4 which is more functional than GNOME anyway, and if
you got this far to file a bug, then you can probably drop the GNOME sandbox for
beginners.
Comment 11 philipp.lohmann 2010-11-05 16:11:12 UTC
still the case in 3.3
Comment 12 philipp.lohmann 2010-11-11 16:59:10 UTC
correction, works in 3.3 and beyond. It stops to works, if you disable "Desktop
effects" while OOo is running. This is because this stops compiz as window
manager and starts metacity instead; OOo does not take note of this change and
still does a workaround for compiz that does not work on compiz (the fun one has
with window managers :-( ).

relavant fixed issues are: issue 102694, issue 113856 (in 3.4)

I'll mark this one as duplicate to issue 113856
