Description

There has been interest in the user and dev lists to have a version of XMLBeans V1 that will run on JDK 1.3.x. Matt Bishop has done some great work to make this happen. This issue is to track that progress of incorporating those fixes such that a JDK 1.3.x compatible build (and distribution) can be made available.

I believe this should be done as a branch since it is difficult to know if the changes might cause subtle regressions in the current xbeans v1 bits that support JDK 1.4.x.

It this is the way we do this then ideally the person that addresses this bug will create some specific instructions on how to build the JDK 1.3.x build and also will work with Cliff (et al) on making sure that the upcoming distribution (v1.0.1) has a distribution for JDK 1.3.x.
