    Description

Using FOP to embed BMP images into a PDF. The BMP Images have a strict linear grayscale palette and look "brigher" in the pdf than when viewed with any other viewer/browser. Changing just a few bits in the palette (not visibly, compare the two attached bmps) makes the image appear in the same (darker) way as displayed in all other programmes. Similar issue was reported on the Mailing list for PNGs 10 yrs ago (https://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/xmlgraphics-batik-users/200906.mbox/%3c2a1ddf8a0906090400s1c5d1461pb1a46d424c679353@mail.gmail.com%3e)
