Description
The VMware ESXi 6.5 web console displays the following warning when editing a VM provisioned by VCL:
The virtual machine's name cannot contain double quote, colon or slash characters
The current naming convention is:
<computer.hostname>:<imagerevision.imagename> (<shared>|<dedicated>)
The colon can be replaced with an underscore. The shared/dedicated was added to be able to tell if a VM uses a shared virtual disk (linked clone) or a complete copy of an image was created for the VM. This isn't very useful.
It would be useful to change the display name for VMs that are actively assigned to a reservation.
