It is not possible to attach a validation event listener to a Palette (or other <select> field)

    Description

      Kind of getting to a point where some kind of inheritance is needed, since the rules vary for text field (& friends) vs. checkbox vs. select. It would be nice to able to just say that a Palette is required (in the standard way: validate="required").
