Description

Serf increases the CPU load on the server.  Using Subversion trunk as my
testcase, and mod_dav_svn 1.7 on the server I see the following CPU used by
apache during a checkout:

http/neon:   8.5s
http/serf:  13s
https/neon: 10s
https/serf: 17s

So serf uses more server CPU and the problem is worse with HTTPS.
