admin UI - make core list scrollable separate from the rest of the UI

      Description

If the list of cores goes beyond the bottom of the browser window, it would be nice if the user could scroll through that list with the mouse wheel without making the main part of the window move. This would particularly important for someone with hundreds or thousands of cores.

I'm not sure if this is even possible.

This is the sort of thing that someone might want to be able to turn off. I don't know if that could be accomplished directly in the UI, or whether it would be better to go into solrconfig.xml.

I swear there's another JIRA on this, but if not there I've also thought there should be a type-ahead feature (prefix only, nothing fancy). Even a scrollable list would be cumbersome if there were 10,000 cores.

          FWIW

This Patch incorporates SOLR-3638 as well as the UI-related part of SOLR-3980

Instead of populating a complete list of all cores the new approach would be using Chosen (as we already do for the Analysis- and the Schema-Browser-Screen) which needs much less space and provides a type-a-head search for the cores as well.

Yago Riveiro we talked about this on IRC, Erick Erickson that patch should work

The Patch might require a bit tweaking here and there, but thoughts are welcome

Now including a separate Icon "Overview" (not completely sure about the name and the icon?), we used the toplevel-core-name link for this before. Ping & Schema-Browser back to work again with this Patch.

The search text box spans outside of the chooser on IE9. Chrome and FF look good. Attached is a screenshot.

Uhm yeah .. like i love these Internet Exploder Issues .. Senthuran Sivananthan would you mind opening a new Issue for that? I'm pretty sure it does look/behave the same for all other Places (Analysis & Schema-Browser) where we're already using the Dropdown-Replacement?

Unfortunately, it wasn't IE alone. Breaks on FF 17 and above too :/.
