A collection that is created with numShards=1 turns into a numShards=2 collection after starting up a second core and not specifying numShards.

        It's picking it up from the set sys prop after no finding it on the clouder descriptor.

        I think it's a mistake that it's even being respected after the first create. Unless you do shard splitting, that should be the numShards forever.

        Patch to fix the problem. The test that catches it is currently in SOLR-3939.

        Just to clarify when this is an issue - it's when you are creating the SolrCores in the same Solr instance - not if they are in separate instances.
