      Description

Currently, if the data directory doesn't exist, Solr will fail to start. Before failing, Solr should attempt to create the data directory.

In my case, the data directory is in the tmp folder, and so after a restart, it has disappeared.

Solr most definitely recreates the data directory if it is not there during startup.

I'm closing this as "Invalid". Perhaps discuss your scenario in more detail on solr-user and we'll re-open if there is some bug you're experiencing, however I often remove the data directory and restart Solr with no problems.

Yea Erik, you're right. I realized my issue was because the data directory was actually a symlink to the real storage area, and the symlink was broken.

        Sorry for the hasty report.
