This ticket keeps track of the https://github.com/apache/sling-whiteboard/tree/master/remote-content-api prototype that aims to implement the ideas at https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/SLING/Sling+Type+System%3A+motivation+and+requirements and use that to create an hypertext-driven and document-oriented Remote Content API for Sling.

I'm assigning this to myself to coordinate the work, but collaborations are welcome of course.
