Extracted from review finding for SLING-10281:
IMHO it would be better to throw dedicated repo-init-runtime-exceptions that come with an error-code and a message instead of throwing RuntimeException, IllegalStateException and IllegalArgumentException.
that would allow to document the various error codes along with explanations of the root cause and instructions on how to fix the corresponding repo-init statements.
