Description

When validating the 0.9.0 release, I noticed that the checker job in SAMZA-394 uses upcoming as its samza.offset.default. This is problematic when it starts up, as it might messages sent by the emitter before the checker starts. This will cause the checker to wedge, and the watcher to begin failing.
