      Description

This task is to evualuate the JDO backend that Craig Russell is developing, to commit it to Roller's sandbox and when it is complete to test it against Roller's Hibernate backend.

If the tests go well for JDO, we'll have the freedom to drop Hibernate and rid ourselves our most significant LGPL dependency, or not.

Consider JPOX. It is apparently the official reference implementation for JDO2, it is much faster than Hibernate, and it is almost finished now.

This is a snapshot of the datamapper implementation that can be used for JDO or JPA. It doesn't compile but it should give an idea of the strategy.
