If I understand correctly, the copyrights on this code belong to Sun/Oracle since Nigel (and others?) worked there when writing the code. Thus we'd either need a software grant from Sun/Oracle on this code or we could simply use it like any other ALv2-licensed third party work [1], which seems like the easier alternative.

Nigel has identified himself as the primary author, has signed an ICLA and is a committer on many apache projects.

The attached code was released by Sun Microsystems under the Apache License 2.0

Furthermore Sun Microsystems provided a Patent Non-Assertion Covenant.

The Patent Covenant, I believe satisfies any remaining Legal issues Apache might otherwise have.

I've attached the LDJ Kit from https://starterkit.dev.java.net/downloads/index.html

If an author or the authors are able to confirm who they are, then we can satisfy the provenance of the LDJ kit and continue development of the Lookup Discovery and Join kit as Sub Project in Apache River under it's Apache 2.0 License terms and conditions.

See the LICENSE contained within the attachment.

Unfortunately neither Jim nor I are at Sun/Oracle now. The code obviously is available, but I think this Jira was created to get the grant for it from Sun.
