default implementation of SASL does not check that mechanism is correct

      Description

      i.e. when cyrus-sasl support is not built in, the mechanism will be sent as taken from configuration even if that is null or something not supported by the broker.

        Workaround is of course to set the mechanism to one that is known to be supported by the broker connected to.
