The WTKXSerializer throws a cryptic StringIndexOutOfBoundsException if you have empty attributes in your XML. I'd argue that the user might want to set a value to a non-null empty string, and we should thus allow such attributes. However, if there's a reason that we shouldn't allow them, we should at least provide a more meaningful exception.
