[BW COMPAT] Queries hangs with client on Phoenix 4.3.0 and server on 4.x-HBase-0.98

    Description

      After https://git-wip-us.apache.org/repos/asf?p=phoenix.git;a=commit;h=52b0f23dc3bfb4cd3d26b12baad0346165de0c66 commit (client using Phoenix v4.3.0 and server on or after the specified commit), Sqlline just hangs (i.e. almost hangs, it's extremely slow, query does get finally executed but it takes 1000+ seconds) while executing any query and there is no associated log/exception on any region server.
