There are classes implementing a validation framework http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/myfaces/commons/trunk/myfaces-commons-validators/src/main/java/org/apache/myfaces/commons/validator/

Suggestions:

1) in http://myfaces.apache.org/commons/index.html, document how to re-use existing commons-validator approaches (our "faces" cohabits with a legacy struts)
2) add a section on "server-side input validation" in http://wiki.apache.org/myfaces/A_Little_Quality_Assurance and possibly even
3) in the "Conversion and Validation" section of http://wiki.apache.org/myfaces/FrontPage
