      Description

In LOG4J2-491 the user is requesting to be able to insert his own custom header and footer during rollover. The Layout header and footer were designed for that purpose but currently can only be used to specify a static header or footer. Furthermore, PatternLayout doesn't allow the header or footer to be provided at all.

PatternLayout was modified to allow a header and footer to be specified that can contain a lookup pattern in revision 1573203.

Where is it document explaining how to use a header / footer that contains a "lookup pattern"? I don't see it in the API docs or in the general layout docs.

Just to be clear, you can use a lookup like "${sys:os.name}" but not a "%" pattern like "%d{UNIX}"
