      During the review of PR for JIRA 879(https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/LIBCLOUD-879) available here : https://github.com/apache/libcloud/pull/952
      The point that GCE LB interface could store string into the "node" field of the load balancer was discuss/challenge. Functionally speaking Node is a string when the load balancer reference a non longer existing node.
      henkslaaf proposed to review this design with "maybe we should set node to none and have a different field for the original node name". I also think the design could be improve.
