Description
Recently Log4j, an Apache Logging Services project, received a funding opportunity from Tidelift. We are being told by Joshua Simmons of Tidelift that Apache Struts is already a "lifter" and a similar model can work for Log4j too. This said, Logging Services PMC has doubts about the legal implications of being a lifter. We have also tried to get in touch with the Struts PMC to learn more about their story.
As Apache Logging Services PMC, we will appreciate it if an expert can advise us on the legal (and practical) implications of signing a lifter agreement.
Tidelift promises a financial support model for almost the entire family of Apache projects and legal implications of being a lifter concerns every party interested in. Hence an official ASF advise would be of help to every single Apache project.
