        Okay so I count
        296: 9
        298: 10
        Everything else: lots less.

We could either do a "runoff vote" between these two since most people voted for lots of things or just declare 298.

+1 for 301; it looks like queues/buffers in different states plus has a bit of color and abstractness to it that I like.
+1 for 298; less abstract but still quite brutal which I think fits Kafka's approach to message queues than other hand-holding systems.

Jay Kreps, to me they look like messages in a log file. Like the straight lines are the messages and the dots are delimiters. Then overall, it's shaped like a K (maybe?)

+1 for 298, and I like Jakob's recursive suggestion as well (can you add feedback on that on the 99designs contest?).

294 seems interesting/deep (pen, two k's, I kind of see a person with hands raised, etc.), but I just prefer 298 wrt overall appearance. 296 is also good, but between 296 and 298 I prefer 298.

No love for 294? I particularly liked that one because it has a pen (which works both because kafka is a system for logging or journaling, and also because kafka is a writer) and the pen is made out of two Ks.
