      Description

When trying to merge the release branch of Apache Flex into the trunk with this command:
      svn merge https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/incubator/flex/sdk/branches/release4.9 https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/incubator/flex/sdk/trunk --dry-run

      The following error occurs:
svn: OPTIONS of 'https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/incubator/flex/sdk/trunk': SSL handshake failed: Connection reset by peer (https://svn.apache.org)

Normal check ins, check out, compares, history etc work fine.

Also tried to merge into a clean checked out trunk and same issue occurred. Several other people also tried and got the same error.

Merge works on people.a.o so solution is to run it there.

<danielsh> No, you just need to record-only-merge the reintegration. Look for 'keep-alive dance' in the 1.7 svnbook, or see users@svn. (The --reintegrate option will be deprecated in 1.8.)

My understanding that this option make the branch no longer usable and we want to continue to use the release branch for any required fixes.

I'll try it out on people.a.o.

<danielsh> While I'm at it I think you want the --reintegrate syntax.

<danielsh> Everything seems normal on this end. I'm actually inclined to suspect the slow connection. Can someone try running this on people.a.o?

<danielsh> Please use whatismyip.com to get your IP. your own public IP won't appear in a traceroute (if that's what you did)

My IP is a net10 one (10.0.2.1), first public IP is 203.176.110.105 several hops away I think you'd see that. svn.apache.org resolves to 140.211.11.4.

Sat 29th 11:18 am started, error at 11:20 am (Eastern Standard Time in Australia)

This is over a reasonable slow connection (via satellite), but is not specific to my setup other people have tried this over faster connections and got the same issue.

<danielsh> For starters the 'merge' invocation seems wrong, but ignore that. What's your IP, what's the IP 'svn.apache.org' resolves to, and at what time UTC did you try the merge?
