      Description

      It would be very nice if we could use git as our primary SCM, instead of just a mirror.

        Sorry, not an option. Plus you didn't tell us who 'we' is.

        Could you please elaborate on why this is not an option? Unless it wasn't clear -- 'we' means Apache Bigtop project.

        Just to be clear again, Bigtop wants to move away from SVN for their canonical repo and use GIT instead , correct ?

        Roman et al:

        I've made your svn tree read only and configured your git repo here;
        https://git-wip-us.apache.org/repos/asf/bigtop.git

        The git repo is also read only for the moment. Please review the git repo and if it is satisfactory, please update this ticket and I will make it writable.

        Also I need to know what parts of your svn tree you wish to keep writable, I assume site, but there might be others

        David, first of all thanks a million for helping us with this! I personally inspected the state of the repo and find it completely ok. I've also asked our Bigtop community members to take a look and it seems like they too, haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary.

        In short -- can you please go ahead and make the switch?
